Volunteer Testimonials

EWCS is extremely fortunate to have so many committed volunteers giving their time to help those in need in the East Wellington Community. Below are some quotes and testimonials from our past and present volunteers.  We appreciate all that you do!

"As a retired senior, volunteering for EWCS keeps me involved in my community and gives me a sense of self-worth.  No matter what age you are, it is important to feel productive and valued. Many of us have skills from our careers that we can apply to our volunteer experiences.   I grew up in this community where my family had a business which was supported by local people.  It feels good and right to give back to people who have given me so much."

"Volunteering is a way for me to give, without expecting anything in return".  I find this refreshing, particularly in light where today's world seems to live by "ok, but what's in it for me?"

“I started volunteering for a number of reasons...  I wanted to develop roots in my newly adopted community,   I had been given so much in my life and felt it’s important to give back and the world seems increasingly uncertain so rather than worry I wanted to add a little goodness.  Volunteering with the seniors of the adult day program has greatly enriched my life.  While riding the bus to the day program I have the opportunity to connect with the participants in a way that is at times reflective, touching, and funny.  I love, love, love my volunteer job!”
